I've spent the last several days completely engrossed in a couple of novel-length Brokeback Mountain stories. I am usually pretty wary of fanfic as long as this -- the first one is 274,000 words, and the sequel is 244,000 words -- because in my experience stories this long usually don't need to be this long and would benefit from a good editor.
